Championship Play-Off Sentence Combining

Combine the sentence clusters on the handout called, "Championship Play-off". Once your sentences are combined, you should have 10 sentences. These 10 sentences should be organized into one paragraph. 

Open the a Google Doc in your WRITING FOLDER. Title the document: Championship Play Off. Then type these sentences into a Google Doc, using a standard 12 size font and style, and black ink. 

Now, create a key in the document for each of the following sentence elements we have been studying.

each of the 5 brush strokes

  • absolute
  • appositive
  • action verb = transitive verb
  • adjectives out of order
  • participle phrases for description (NOT the main verb)
  • prepositional phrase as a sentence opener
  • intransitive verb
  • linking verb
  • helping verb
  • Highlight subject of one sentence in yellow

Now CHANGE the FONT color for each in your paragraph to show where you have used each element. Do not highlight the phrases, except for the one subject.

Finally, submit the link to your document. MAKE SURE YOUR DOCUMENT IS IN THE SlayELA Writing Folder.
